November 27 update: It just occurred to me that this idea [Biden swearing himself in before January 20] would not work. A four year term is a four-year term, which is why the swearing-in always takes place on January 20. Any shortening of it while the current president was still considered ‘competent’ would probably be unconstitutional, and constitute a form of coup. Competence, of course, is a broadly-defined term, and clearly all that Donald Trump needs to do to be considered competent by his supporters is breathe, and play golf; if he declared his shit holy, I have no doubt, a third of his supporters would believe it literally; a third would consider it a clever mind-trick to thwart his enemies; and the final third wouldn’t give a fuck. Unfortunately, this current Senate will never use the 25th Amendment, although it is plainly obvious that it should have been used by now, and that it should still be used at this moment. Trump played golf on the worst day of the pandemic, which was yesterday. The tottering fool doesn’t even bother to toss rolls of paper towels at people anymore. I’m worried about myself and my loved ones dying, and this guy is enjoying his last days in office playing golf; pardoning his self-admitted criminal buddies; and, giving the other 300-million-plus rest of us the bad fucking advice of traveling to be with loved ones this Thanksgiving, resulting in outcomes for the elderly such as the one above.

Of course, with this crew of traitors, it’s not ‘advice,’ it’s a military attack. Part of our ‘going away present,’ as the Russian agent drags himself slowly out the door, eking out the last bit of his usefulness, never neglecting an opportunity to curry maximum favor with his puppeteer. And, if he does not succeed in his coup. Has he conceded the election, yet? No, I don’t think that he has.

Ironically, it turned out that he really could “shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue, and not lose any votes.” I took him seriously then, as I do now: I have said before that anyone who assumes the office of the U.S. Presidency owns (means, unless he disavows it) every word he says.
