This appears to be all of Amy Goodman’s coverage of the event. No stories (yet), just headlines. Democratic Senator Brian Schatz of Hawaii called it an “extrajudicial killing,” and Trump appears to be all but admitting it. Lt. Ray Brady’s account of Reinoehl’s actions prior to being shot by four officers in a suburban neighborhood with 28 rounds, in my opinion, is VERY soft (leaves lots of room for interpretation), and it directly contradicts an eyewitness who had no skin in the game, who said that Reinoehl was approached by the officers, who immediately began firing at him with no verbal warning; and, that Reinoehl was carrying only a cellphone, and eating candy.

Forty-eight-year-old Michael Reinoehl was shot dead in Lacey, Washington, near Olympia, just hours after an arrest warrant was issued for him. Lieutenant Ray Brady of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said four officers fired shots during the raid.

“Lt. Ray Brady: “There was a confrontation between the officers that were on scene and the subject. The information that we have at this time is that the subject was armed. “Witness Says Police Shot Portland Homicide Suspect Without Warning, Attempting No Arrest”

“In Oregon state, a witness to last week’s police killing of Michael Reinoehl says the 48-year-old anti-fascist activist did not appear to have a gun and was not threatening officers before he was killed in a hail of police gunfire. The witness, Nathaniel Dingess, says Reinoehl was clutching his phone and eating candy outside an apartment complex on September 3 when officers in two unmarked cars converged on him. Dingess says the officers never announced themselves or gave commands before opening fire.”

“Trump Defends Police Killing of Portland Anti-Fascist Activist
“HEADLINE SEP 14, 2020
“President Trump is defending the fatal police shooting of Portland anti-fascist activist Michael Reinoehl as “retribution,” after he was accused of killing a far-right Trump supporter. Trump’s remarks to Fox News came after a witness said Reinoehl did not appear to have a gun and was not threatening officers, who never announced themselves or gave commands before killing him in a hail of gunfire on September 3.

“President Donald Trump: “This guy was a violent criminal.”

“Jeanine Pirro: “A lot of them out there.”

“President Donald Trump: “And the U.S. Marshals killed him. And I will tell you something: That’s the way it has to be. There has to be retribution.”

“Democratic Senator Brian Schatz of Hawaii called out his Republican colleagues for refusing to condemn Trump’s remarks. He tweeted, “Extrajudicial killings are something many Republican U.S. Senators oppose if they happen outside of the United States. But they won’t say anything about this.””
